He’s been working with other members of game grumps on an animated show for a while, but why would that be relevant anyway? The message still stands on its own and is positive and encouraging?
I tried leaving this alone but I can’t, man, I gotta say something about this.
There’s an overwhelming amount of tags and comments on this complaining about Arin’s advice and that it’s weird that this is coming from him, seeing it as he has ”given up” on art an animation and some put it.
I just wanna say how dare you. How dare you complain on him and say that this is a terrible advice, twisting it to make it sound like ”anyone could replace an artist” and that ”EVERYONE will create even when I don’t”.
I don’t know how people manage to twist this in this way, it’s supposed to be encouraging and make artists and creative creators feel like their stuff that they create is worth something, and worth their time and effort. Because there’s nothing worse than creating something and getting no sort of response on it, after hours and hours of work. And that is why you should always keep doing what you’re doing.
Maybe you have this super clever idea for a parody or something, but you feel like your work isn’t as good as most others so you don’t feel motivated enough to make it. If you don’t create it, no one else will!
And I can guarantee that your art is worth it, because what motivates others (!), especially the people who’s work you’re doing fanart or other creative things of, is to see that the things that THEY do is connecting people and affecting people to create things, and also especially if it’s obvious that they’re having fun with it. So your art is fucking worth it!
No matter how bad you think you are at what you’re doing, not doing is not going to make you better at it. Do what you love doing, do it everyday, because no other content creator can replace you, even if you think so. NO ONE can be EXACTLY like you. ALWAYS create, ALWAYS do it if you think it’s fun as hell.
And for the people who say ”Arin took the easy way out to become a let’s player”? It can’t be easy to do an ”accidental choice” of a career that’s gonna make money to put food on the table, where afterwards you have to think ”I can’t do that one think I used to love doing anymore because I simply don’t have time”. Arin might not be able to draw and animate as much anymore, but he is still an inspiration to MANY artists and animators. Look at all the things he has created! You can’t just ignore that!!
Every Saturday Arin does this thing on his twitter called #cutiesaturday, where people post art of cute people and tag it as that, and Arin reblog all of it. And with someone who has 100 000’s of followers that exposure for small creators is AMAZING, making them gain a butt ton of new followers and people saying that their stuff is awesome and that they should keep on going on!
So FUCK YOU all that think he’s just saying this because whatever, motivation whatever. He means it, I know he does. He loves art so much, and he really don’t want you to give up on doing what you love.
I gotta add to this that he does game grumps every day???? Which is comedy??? Which is art??? Performance is still art, it doesn’t have to be on a paper. Someone can give advice without applying it to themselves every single minute of every day, too. Stop being dicks.
